Pakistan’s education system must be reformed: PU VC
![]() Lahore: (Wednesday, December 17, 2025): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that the university is transforming its students to learn latest skills. He called upon the need to reform education system on the lines of developed countries and move away from the rote-learning system. He was addressing the 10th International Conference organized by PU Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) here on Wednesday. On this occasion, Chief Operating Officer of IGI General Insurance Muhammad Hasham, Prof Dr Muhammad Ashfaq from Germany, Nizamuddin from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, HCBF In-Charge Dr Iftikhar Ahmed, along with researchers and a large number of students from various universities were present. In his address, PU VC Dr Muhammad Ali said that as technology is advancing in the modern era, risks are also increasing. He said that risks are also increasing due to natural disasters, and the role of insurance companies is important in addressing these challenges. He said that students are being trained in a way that enables them to make decisions in line with future trends. He further stated that with the use of technology, agriculture is shifting towards mechanization. He advised students to develop skills while keeping technology in mind and to respect people on the basis of knowledge and piety, not on the basis of power and wealth. He emphasized the need to assess what employment opportunities will emerge in the next three years. He said that in the West, it is not possible to be on the road without insurance. He also remarked that the quality of life available in Pakistan cannot be found abroad. Chief Operating Officer of IGI General Insurance, Muhammad Hasham appreciated the services of Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali for the development of PU HCBF. He said that the best insurance program is being run at this institution. He said that more than 100,000 people are employed in the insurance sector. He said that due to Pakistan’s large population, opportunities in the insurance sector are very bright. He further stated that along with the digital economy, the insurance sector is also expanding. He emphasized that while using AI tools, information must always be verified. In-Charge Dr Iftikhar Ahmed said that under the leadership of Principal HCBF, Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta, the standard of education at the college has improved, and there has also been enhancement in infrastructure.
